Hello people!!!

I have new rig I just built, It has MSI GTX 970, AMD 8320(stock speeds at time), 8gbs of sniper elite ram 1866mhz, Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 ver4.0, Corsair cx750M PSU and Windows 8.1. The HDD's  I use is a seagate 1TB hybrid drive(OS) and WD 640 for games, ect...

At the moment the GTX 970 is in the process of being RMA, the GPU I'm using is my old EVGA GTX 670. The main story is that when I'm browsing online on or watching YouTube videos. The whole system will lockup. All I hear is the speaker making strange sound and a frozen image. Having to reboot the machine and it doesn't have to much. Maybe 2 to 5 times every few weeks. I was able to deal with it, but now its getting really old. Do you guys having Ideas or suggestion I could try. I have spare RAM and a OCZ 700watt PSU(still works).

Thank you!

its a problem with your GPU drivers

try updating to the latest version if you havent already or rever to older ones

I had this problem before and doing a clean install of different drivers fixed it

also remember to check for windows updates after updating drivers

This is almost guaranteed to be a driver issue.  Although it could be memory related.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

I.assume the cpu has some integrated basic graphics device, so try removing the gpu and seeing if that solves ypur problem. If so check drivers, cables and the gpu itself. Maybe just maybe it could even be the psu not being able to drive enough power to the gpu. I'm not 100% i covered all the possibilities but i hope it helps you

Thank you!

It's the motherboard. This happened to me. I bought a new board and it went away.
