This is my Ultimate 12k dream build, something to work hard for. I designed this build as a goal to set for myself after I graduate. The only thing I really need now is whether or not this build is worthwhile to save up for. Is it well put together? Do I need liquid cooling for the triple Titan X's? Do I have enough air cooling with the case, or do I need more fans? Any advice is welcome.

My plans for this rig are 4k gaming on maxed out settings in very resource demanding games, as well as being able to render 1080p-4k video and graphics at high speeds, as well as play ultra-high quality audio. Suggestions and replacement parts are welcome. No set budget, as this is all a goal to build up to, so I don't mind having to pay more for better quality. I want the best of the best in quality, performance, and style, so don't hold back.

Don't get razer headset.

I'll switch to 980 Ti's. 4-way SLI isn't possible with them is it? And you know I gotta have that Razer Tiamat. I've had a Kraken for a while and it's the best headset I've had so far.

why not just get 1 big ssd? are you running raid or something?

Yeah, planning on Raid 0 with redundancy

Razer headsets are the worst of my experience.

What headset(s) have you had and why were they bad?

... why?

That is A LOT of money to spend on a PC. What's the point? You could build a PC for 1/5th of the price and game on a single 4K panel really well.

Once you start spending that much money, you are pretty much taking your money and setting it alight.

Except for the games, what will you be doing with the PC? Does your income depend on your PC or is it a hobby?

All the cool kids use RAID 0

I set this PC as a goal for how successful I want to be, not as a PC for practicality. I want to be in a financial place where spending this much on a PC is nothing to me. When I am able to build this rig, I will know I have reached that place.

I expect a few people could afford this build. Is it appropriate? Hell fucking no it isn't. It also isn't a good indicator of your level of success. If you can't determine whether you're in a financially stable place WITHOUT building a PC, then you really shouldn't be dropping $10k on one. There are far easier (and less idiotic) ways of determining how you're doing financially.

Wouldn't being able to, you know, buy a house or support a family be a better indicator?

If you want a build for a purpose, is practical, and you'll be building it within the next couple of months, then I can go ahead and recommend a build right now.

Otherwise, I'm sick of these 'dream' builds. Technology changes quickly, and trying to spec out a PC when you're dropping that much money on it is idiotic, because something faster, more efficient and cheaper is just around the corner. It always is.

If you can make an ultra HD gaming/work rig for me, then, by all means, go ahead. I'd love to have some input from someone who knows what they're doing. I'm only a recent entry to the realm of PC gaming. As high quality and performance as you can give it, and there is not limit on price. Thanks for your consideration.

Other than gaming, what do you use the PC for? Does your income depend on your PC or are the tasks you do just a hobby?

I generally have a cap of approx. £2000 (~$2500) when building a PC. Much more and you're throwing money away.

High-end gaming, and some 3D graphics rendering. I don't need to have it for work, but it'd be nice to be able to get some projects done at home and put in the time to get them just the way I want them and the customer orders it. Mostly work on Catia and SolidWorks, nothing too demanding.

That's what I would go for. You should be able to run 4K pretty well with those cards in Xfire, but be warned, there are drawbacks with going for a multiple card setup. You may not be able to completely max out AAA titles in 4K, but at that resolution, you could turn off AA and it would still look awesome. Aliasing wouldn't happen to a great degree at this resolution.

If I were to personally build this rig, I'd put everything under a custom loop, but for a first time build air cooling will be fine.

You must remember that because 4K is so demanding, you should leave yourself room for upgrades. Get two R9 390s and now you can upgrade in a year if necessary. But you have less money for an upgrade if you were to go 3-way GTX 980 Ti SLI.

I also don't really like the Fractal Cases, but they're roomy, so it'll fit a Noctua air cooler just fine.

Those monitors are not 4K they are widescreen 1440p. A standard 4K monitor is 3840 x 2160.

It would be faster, but when putting the build together, a single 390X was $100 more, so I picked the 390 instead.

The 390 would be a more cost effective option.

What build do you have now?
