New Family TV

Stigs

So the family's looking for a new TV for the living room.  We're not sure if we want to get a smart tv or a normal HD tv with some kind of thing like a chromecast or whatever.  What's better for the living room, a smart tv or a normal (Still HD) tv?  I literally know nothing about smart tv's besides internet connectivity, so any help on that would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'd get a normal TV with a Chromecast or something. IMO, smart TVs suck. Probably not all of them, but I prefer normal TVs.

The smart TV my cousin has is really easy to use. Some 65 inch 4k res smart tv that she splashed out $2200 on with taxes. The remote is easy to use, one button and you are in Netflix and the remote has a little keyboard which is easy to use.

EDIT- it's a vizio.

We were going to use points on our Thank you Rewards credit card. I don't know what the points translate to in dollars.  I think it's 1 point per dollar, but then again, I don't know the budget.
