[Guide] How to set up an SSD with an HDD (increase SSD's life span)

Guest
Go to solution Solved by DEDRICK,

While this won't increase life-span, it will save space.  Disabling Hibernation will net you nearly 10GB of free space on your SSD

I know it's in Dutch, I'm sorry.

Go to your desktop, right click on the recycle bin and apply these settings. This will turn off recycle bin for your SSD though, so deleted files are gone.

Then go to Windows Explorer and change the location of pictures, documents, etc. to you hard drive.

Then go to Control Panel > System and Security > System and apply these settings as well to increase your SSD's life span

This will move the page file to your hard drive.

This should be displayed as to what you're actually doing.  The first thing you've done has disabled the Recycle Bin feature, the second is changing User Folder locations, and the third is turning off page filing.  All of which is, or isn't, helpful to the user.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

The page filing goes to the hard drive and turning off recycle bin for the SSD is fine if you use the SSD for just the OS and a few programs.

Im not saying it is or it isn't..  What I am saying is that you need to tell users this so they know what they are doing.  Don't blindly lead people like sheep.  Teach them so they can actually learn.

When changing stuff in the Page File, one should always remember to press Set after changing settings. This is the only place in Windows where that's required.
