Hello, and thanks for reading this already!

I'm not an expert on HyperThreading, and since Intel is so kind to not release proper information on the internet, I'm turning to the forum :P.

So, too what extent do I benefit from HT in the following situations?

  • Photoshop?
  • Game development?
  • Programming?
  • Video Editing? (I know it helps, but not too what extent)

Thanks in advance!

Basic guide to CPU's!

If I said I were 14, you would call me a kid. If I say 70, you’ll entitle me too old. If I say 20 you say I’m inexperienced and if I say 40 than I'm too boring.

If the program supports it, you will see a rise in performance. The question is: is that boost in performance worth the extra $100?

100$ more on a good day. Over here they are sometimes double the price :/

But Xeon 1231 v3 is around $20 more than i5 4690k.

Depending on the country friend. Here, they cost about 50% more than an i5 4460.

That's true. I wasn't thinking about that. Xeons are really really nice for people who don't want to overclock. At least in America.

They must be in Germany too, as the site I first found out about using Xeons as cheaper i7s was German. You'll see lots of videos about the Xeon E3-1230v3 and Xeon E3-1231v3 in German on youtube also. I wonder why they're cheap there but I never hear of people in the UK, for example, using them.
