hi about a week ago I made a build with an fx 8320 but I notice huge problems with it, i get very low performance. I have laptop with i3-3000m and gt 840m and i get higher performance in all games but with this pc i have r7 260x and fx 8320 and i get lower fps??

i notice very weird things too

in minecraft, without shaders + no aa i get 150 fps

with 4x supersample I get exactly the same fps

moment I turn on light shaders I get to 20 fps already. my laptop ran this at 35 fps??

I also notice that only my core 8 is working, all others are very low usage and gpu usage is always 100%. i also notice weird thigns with the core clock. i reset bios settings, disabled overdrive and all overclocking yet it's still at 3.7 ghz instead of 3.5. also disabled cool n quiet and put it at max performance yet it keeps downclocking to 1.5 ghz often

i also noticed the cpu temps are very low even under load they don't go beyond 50 degrees on like 30% fan speed. surely not because amds stock fan is so super good?

Just because you have 8 cores doesn't mean every bit of software will use them (Which is why half of them do nothing in task manager), to my understanding Minecraft is heavily single threaded (although I believe performance enhancing mods like Optifine can help). Which would be why you are stuck at 150FPS- you are CPU bound.

And about it going down to 1.5GHz with cool'n'quiet disabled... what board did you buy?

then that's good...it means your limiting factor is the R7 260X...this is a pretty weak card for 1080p gaming...i would get something better such as an R9 380 for example.

then explain how going from 0 to 4x supersampling doesn't reduce my fps even by 1 considering gpu does supersampling?

I also noticed temperature idle and under load keep staying 45 degrees... something is wrong here. i know 8320 is not that good but getting same performance as 500 euro laptop is a joke

I am not sure how AMD cards do in Minecraft to be honest and the 260X is kinda weak... :(

my biggest issue is fact that my cheap laptop runs it better. yes i know this is not a good build but i should be getting more fps than my laptop?

alright so I did more testing

skyrim river wood i get like 35 fps on medum settings no anti aliasing

then i put enb v0.119 in there, turned on *8x anti aliasing* and drawdistance to 7 and I get 29 fps.. if gpu was bottleneck i wouldve got like 10 fps now especially with anti aliasing

i know 8320 is not strong but surely it's not this weak? its still 160 euro processor. what could be wrong here?

This is because you just made Skyrim much more GPU focused - these don't seem really tax the CPU any more, and if they do they're using more cores.

Sig under construction.

At one point I had a computer with the same CPU and similar GPU and I was getting like 140 FPS with shaders and and over 1000 without. I don't know what's wrong. :(

Make sure your CPU is running at full speed, maybe reinstall your drivers or your OS.

Edit: Oh, I see you fixed this already.

80 is still nothing to sneeze at, I know a lot of people that would kill to get 20 with shaders lol.

Do you have optifine? Also, what version are you running? 1.8 is a laggy mess and Forge isn't out for 1.8.3 (correct me if I'm wrong), so you'll have to play 1.7.4 to use shaders well.

yep, optifine running 1.7.2. I'm kinda sad because I was intending on using supersample while still remaining at 50~60 but now I drop to 45.
