don't question the $18 980ti's. a company has made a slip up and you should take advantage of it if they haven't already sold out

Oh ok, I personally have an NZXT s340 and I love the simplicity, yet sexiness of it, but idk if you like all that simplicity and want something a bit more abstract

Also, you clearly didn't do any research because theres a better HDD you can get and a better SSD, even for the same price..

Heyyo,

I was originally thinking this build for cost-effectiveness...

But you said you wanted better looks, and that NZXT S340 is a little pricey... so I had to sacrifice your CPU from an i3-4160 to a dual core Pentium G3258. Overclock the G3258 and it'll be ok.

CPU Cooler: Zalman CNPS5X Performa CPU Cooler ($19.99 @ Memory Express)

Motherboard: MSI H97M-E35 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($94.99 @ NCIX)

Heyyo,

Err... why would you put an APU with a discrete GPU? You realize the CPU portion of that APU isn't good right?

http://www.techradar.com/us/reviews/pc-mac/pc-components/processors/amd-a10-5800k-1103125/review

Gaming performance (with discrete HD 7970)

Metro 2033: Frames per second: Higher is better

AMD A10 5800K: 31

AMD FX 4170: 29

Gaming performance (with discrete HD 7970)

DiRT Showdown: Frames per second: Higher is better

AMD A10 5800K: 31

AMD FX 4170: 29

So the CPU of the AMD A10-5800k is roughly as strong as an AMD FX-4170... not good when you want to pair it with an AMD R9 280X.

AMD APU's are meant to be for the cheapest PC builds. Period. They were never designed to work good when you toss in a discrete GPU. For that? you're better off with an Intel CPU or at a bare minimum the AMD FX-6300.

Heyyo,

Alright, that $109 CAD Windows OEM crippled me quite a bit... best I can do meow is AMD APU with a strong aftermarket cooler and overclock it to get better performance.

For non AMD APU builds? There was this one with Intel dual core pentium and AMD R9 270X which may perform a little better:

Otherwise? At slightly over budget to $704 CAD you can step up the CPU to the Intel i3-4160 if you'd like.

Also, the non-AMD APU build (the one just above here with the Intel CPU and discrete GPU) offer future upgradability. You could always in the future change out the CPU to an Intel i5 and of course the GPU could be bumped too in a few years. So this build has more potential in the future where-as the A10-7850K is pretty much the best you can do with the AMD APU.

Also, NCIX here in Canada shows the AMD R9 370 for about the same price as the AMD R9 270X. The 370 I'm guessing is a refresh of the 270X so it might have slightly better performance, thermals and overclocking abilities.
