New i3 based gaming PC

Hey guys I need a bit of help getting a list of parts together for my brother to have a decent rig for gaming on ESO and other relatively demanding games. So far I have decided to get the i3 4130 and I already have a gtx 660 and a case laying around. What would be a good psu, ram, mobo (needs Ethernet port) and hdd to fit his needs? Budget is pretty flexible but he isn't looking for maxing out games. I would put it together myself but I'm not too familiar with the budget end. Any suggestions are much appreciated

I would go i5. A lot of new games are "requiring" quad cores, they really don't "need" the power, but the config files make them not run without a quad. Not worth spending ~140 now when ~180 would be a lot more "future proof"

Rig: i7 13700k - - Asus Z790-P Wifi - - RTX 4080 - - 4x16GB 6000MHz - - Samsung 990 Pro 2TB NVMe Boot + Main Programs - - Assorted SATA SSD's for Photo Work - - Corsair RM850x - - Sound BlasterX EA-5 - - Corsair XC8 JTC Edition - - Corsair GPU Full Cover GPU Block - - XT45 X-Flow 420 + UT60 280 rads - - EK XRES RGB PWM - - Fractal Define S2 - - Acer Predator X34 -- Logitech G502 - - Logitech G710+ - - Logitech Z5500 - - LTT Deskpad

Headphones/amp/dac: Schiit Lyr 3 - - Fostex TR-X00 - - Sennheiser HD 6xx

Homelab/ Media Server: Proxmox VE host - - 512 NVMe Samsung 980 RAID Z1 for VM's/Proxmox boot - - Xeon e5 2660 V4- - Supermicro X10SRF-i - - 128 GB ECC 2133 - - 10x4 TB WD Red RAID Z2 - - Corsair 750D - - Corsair RM650i - - Dell H310 6Gbps SAS HBA - - Intel RES2SC240 SAS Expander - - TreuNAS + many other VM’s

My idiot brother used the computer while I was in the bathroom.

Might be the reason why the few posts you have post are rather rude.

Get the new equivalent of a i3 3220. Its served well, with great performance in many games (Albeit with it running okay in Battlefield and other CPU heavy games)

I would go for an i5.

If you are playing an MMO, you can benifit from an SSD, but it's not needed, I put one in, but feel free to take it out to save $$$.

which gpu's would a 4460 or 4590 bottleneck?

To my belief, those CPUs can handle just about anything up until like the 980ti

Due to the fact that you are pairing it with only a GTX 660 I would recommend a 860k because even that won't bottleneck it at all and its significantly cheaper then a i3.

I'd say that as well but he really wants to go Intel and he plans on buying a bigger beefier graphics card down the road.

And this is what I would do if I planned on upgrading more later.
