Upgrade from 6850. Any suggestions?

Duke SpaceRunner

I want to upgrade from my 6850, but I am not sure what to upgrade to. I was thinking a 7950, but I would like some suggestions from you guys before I make a decision. I'm going to be using it for 1920x1200 gaming on BF3 and getting ready for BF4. Budget is around $400 USD.

7950 is a great deal right now actually. It's like $260-$350 and it comes with 4 games. Blood dragon, Tomb Raider, Crysis 3, and Bioshock Infinite. I only found these good deals on www.superbiiz.com. If you want a card from nvidia then definitely a GTX 770. There are some that's exactly $400 and it comes with Splinter cell blacklist

If you've held out this long, go with the AMD R9 series cards that comes out in October.

Is the bump in price on the 7970 worth its power difference from the 7950?

No. You can overclock the 7950 to 7970 performance quite easily. Pretty much the only things that separates those two are 256 SP, 16 TMU's, 4 ROP's, and about 125mhz. Like I said, you can overclock the 7950 to over 1050mhz quite easily, and it will perform as good, if not better than a stock 7970 in games.  :D

Either upgrade to a GTX 700 series or wait for AMDs new cards, mainly because I don't think it is worth upgrading to and AMD card that is 1 gen ahead. The 6850 is still a great little beast and is capable of playing all current gaming titles.

Alright so I suppose the 7950 is my current top choice for my next card. Thanks for the info.

I think I can stick with my 6850 for another 2 months and wait to see the new AMD cards.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions everyone!
