Track your Vram usage using MSI AB and check it with GPU-Z just to be fully sure.

What's running in the background?

So you're maxing out the vRAM in games? If you're not, then it's not the vRAM causing the issue.

Do you have multiple monitors and Windows 8.1 (or possibly Windows 10; I haven't seen reports of 10's vRAM usage)? If so, then while a little high, it's not unheard of. With a 1080p main screen and a 768p second monitor and windows 8.1 Pro, I use somewhere between 400-700MB of vRAM without really doing anything on the desktop.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.
