I woke up this morning and went to check my email. I noticed I had received this message:

Good day to you,
I am               , I am the personal attorney to my deceased
client late engineer                        , who has the same surname and
nationality with you. I am contacting to seek your consent in order
to present you to the bank in which he deposited the sum of US$8.5
million without any beneficiary, hence you bear the same last name
with him. Contact me directly by this email for more detail
information . You are required to furnish me with the following
information about yourself : Full names.. Age... Country of
origin.. Address.. Occupation.. Telephone number... Thank you,

Tel: +2289
Skype Id:

I blanked out some things to protect me and this person.

Now the first red flag was that the area code (2289) is from Greece. That's interesting.

Now the next thing is that this person knew my biological grandfather, with the same last name as me, and yes he is an engineer. (but I haven't talked to him in 11 years)

They also gave me their skype ID. hmm

I am almost completely sure that this is a scam, but that leaves me wondering how they knew all this, and how the hell they got my email (which doesn't contain my last name)

What do you all think about this?

Disregard the email. Never reply. If you have an issue with any of your banking stuff, you contact your bank, not someone else.

Sounds like bullshit. There's no reason why you would be REQUIRED to give him that info. make a pinger or burner phone number, fake email, fake address, and fuck with the guy.

"LTT's official.."STOP. I promise you aren't LTT's official bagel eater or whatever. Trust me.

lol my friend got this. He went through half way until I told him hes a fucking retard because it's obviously a scam.

Can you smack him?

My best friend's Dad got a fishy looking email from his Dad, who is a technophobe type OAP. But turns out he was just shit at writing e-mails as well, so it was set out like a scammer. Funny. :D

But Greece don't have any money to give anyone?

Last month my relative in Dominican Republic died in an car accident. Also his daughter and only close family died with him. He has 40m dollars on bank account, but government blocked the amount and if someone from family won't take the money within 30 days, government will take it all. So his good lawyer contacted me as I'm the only relative that the lawyer could find.

All he wants is my Full name, address, bank account number and couple of things and I can take half of the money.. I think I'm a rich man now, right guys?

Last time when my relative died in Niger, a lawyer sent me his Passport so I would trust him. I ran the passport thru document checker at work and I wrote him that his passport is fake, apparently my relative was no longer dead after that message. :P

  • 1 year later...
2 minutes ago, VanDiemen said:

That's bullshit! Greece's code is +30 not +2289. Get your facts together.

@DildorTheDecent he didn't say that the Greek goverment was gonna give him any money.

Now THAT is one hell of a necro post xD

How far back did you have to dig to find this post in Off-Topic from back in July of 2015 lol?
