Soo im about to be updating my system ans want to make sure everything will work good so here is the list B)

 

What im keeping the same

 

-corsair 500w power supply

 

-AMD R9 270x

 

-2 hdds

 

-4gb of ram.

 

What im changing

 

-New CPU: i7-4790k (Yes I edit video and do 3d work)

 

-New mobo: MSI B85M

If you're doing video editing and 3D work, you should have no less than 8GB of the stuff. Seriously, I tried doing that crap on 2GB......just no.

consider getting a i7 4790 or a z97 if you insit on the k version.

I'd switch one of the two, the 4790k is an overclocking CPU, and you can't overclock on a B85 motherboard.

That motherboard will not allow you to overclock that CPU, it would be a waste, and if you are trying to save money you could go for the non K version of the CPU.

You might wanna get a Z97 board to utilize the unlocked-ness on the 4790K. Also, upgrade your RAM to 8GB or possibly even 16GB if you're doing 3D work/editing.

If you want to save even more money, you can go for the Xeon version of the 4770 - it has no integrated graphics.

upgrade that RAM! trust me, you will be rage quittting with 4GB of ram and trying to do 3dwork.

It will work, but buying a high end unlocked cpu and running it on a b85 motherboard is a huge waste. You'll also want at least 8gb of ram for video editing and rendering if not more. You could spare a bit on the cpu (going for a xeon 1231 v3, a lower clocked and locked version of the same cpu) and use the spared money to get more ram. You should also consider an ssd as soon as possible.
