Hi everyone

Am an architecture student and through out my two years  i found that i keep on the need of uograding of the specs i have , first i had the macbook pro then i exchanged it to the levonno y50 4k which was way better performance as i use autocad for the plans and all the 2d drawings then i use the skethup for the 3d modeling then i finish it off with lumion. So i had saved some money and am able to make my own pc and i would like to customize it as i am watching videos and reading articles i found out buying the high end video cards or cpu is sometimes a waste of money were something previously launched half the pirice gives the same performance . So i would like you to help me out to choose parts that go with each other perfectly as possible . The two things on my mind the most is the cpu and basically where ever i go i found the x99 or x99 deluxe is the most talked about but recently i found the x99 deluxe ws edition so i what is the major difference and i found out that quadro graphics architecture is more suited for architecture.for more cleaification this year iw ould have to build or desgin larrge spaces and areas withsome small details . what am looking for is to work with the modeling the 3d part with less lagging as much as possible , plsu if any recommendation if i should use revit instead of sketch up and autocad or any programms i should learn , as for the money i would pay max 2000$ thank you

One: Post is too long. Take out all the background and give us the important stuff only. What's the pc going to be used for, what's your budget, and what's your location. Addtionally, what's your location?

Honestly I don't think you really need an x99 platform, i think an i7-4790k would be good enough, but since you want an x99 platform.

When it comes to storage since you're not going to be playing games or anything a 512gb ssd should be all you'd need. And if you need more you could pick up an external hdd or buy an internal one.

As for video card I don't know a whole lot about Quadro gpus and what ones are the best bang for your cash, one thing i do know is typically they cost a lot and a $2k budget might not be enough to include a quadro. A gtx 960 is a pretty decent card that should still be able to help some with rendering i believe.

The define r5 is a silent case that i can vouch for.

As for the power supply I chose one that would allow further expansion, such as if you got a Quadro. You should be able to run a quadro and regular gpu in the same rig.

One thing I probably suggest, based on my limited knowledge on Quadro's is you should just use a regular gpu, and if the time comes you feel you need a Quadro then pick one up, but I do think this build should be adequate

Cheaper, better GPU, and more storage.

A fancy motherboard is not needed. The cpu, gpu, and memory size are much more important. X99 motherboards are able to support quad channel memory operation. This will improve performance over dual channel. A 4x memory kit is required. I have gone with 4x8GB for 32GB. If you work with smaller models, a bit could be saved by going to 4x4GB. The GTX 980 should do a decent job in Lumion. However, if your models have a lot textures a gpu with more memory would be better.

Thank you for everyone who replied , however almost all of you have included consumer type of grpahics where when i searched about them their performance for rendering was not that recommended , to make it more clear the build of their architecture doesnot really perform as good with renders as it is with games , as for the budget it the general prices , i dont care much for the case colours or manufacturer , would only care if it improves on the heat cycle etc. As if for the memory i might go with 4 pieces which seemes better than going with two and which quadro or firepro gpus is recommended because alot of artciles confused me as to whether some are similar and their prices dont have differnces or for example the k4000 is high priced and doesnt perform that well so what to do
