DIY FIX FOR SAGGY GRAPHICS CARDS! (w/ PICS)

ALLLLLLRIGHT, So! I was cleaning my computer tonight and I noticed that my MSI GTX 970 is really really saggy... I looked around my room thinking and looking for a fix, and I stumbled upon a clothes hanger!

so I measured everything and I hung the card by the cables and the sag was gone! so I decided to share this with you guys!

here's what you'll need

1- Lighter

2- Scissors or Pliers

3- Clothes hanger cut to fit the distance from your GPU and the TOP portion of your case, + more inches so you can tie the Clothes hanger at the top.

a851a0b3810b47d9cdfd634acc853279.png

Steps

1- Measure the distance between your graphics card (the cables, 6+6, 6+8 or 8+8 power cables) and the top mesh of your case, add up around 3 or 4 inches more (this is important).

2- straighten the clothes hanger and apply the measurement on it, and light up the end of the measurement with your lighter so you can cut it easily with the scissors or pliers.

3- Cut

4- Stick the hook under the power cables, make sure its not too stiff on the cables so they don't come out (the cables are really strong the way they're plugged in the power pins so don't worry about being too rough)

5- Stick the other end of the clothes hanger in between the mesh in the top part of the case, here's where the more inches come in handy, you want to use the hanger like cable ties and put it in another hole, be free to use the pliers here to make your job easier

6- make sure the hanger is not cutting or interfering with anything else.

after doing all of that this is how it should look like, or some what

After:

you can paint the clothes hanger to fit your theme as well!

I hope this helped! so instead of going and buying an expensive back plate or something to hold the card up, here's something that you can find in your house to use!

when I had 2 cards in crossfire, luckily they both sagged the exact same amount so they didnt touch. if the bottom one didnt sag also, would of been a nightmare. as the top card was a triple slot and ran into stuff if put on the bottom

edit: could you have ran it straight out from the drive bay, so its not this massive thing?

I needed to push it upwards, that wont be happening if I routed the hanger on the drive bay

It would be a little difficult because you'll need to put the hook somewhere, and unless you have the cables in a loop and then in the power pins it might work

Sadly I have a k series CPU with this H77 mobo :// upgrading to Z77 once I found a Z77 motherboard

well, this is mostly for people who have a lot of sag, and they don't want to leave the comfort of their houses to buy a small piece of plastic or metal to put under their card
