When you are having a conversation with a group of people, and you say something but everyone completely ignores you and keeps or starts to talk to another person, what do you do? Happened to me quite some time today so wondering how to get out of this awkward, feel bad, situation?

Just talk to people with similar interests that will actually listen to you, else talking to them is a waste of time IMO.

On a serious note tho, try merging with their topics bring in new/updated subjects on to their conversation so they value you..

Are these people close friends? Are they GOOD friends? Do they normally listen to you, or otherwise act like they are interested in what you have to say?

 

Might be that they simply didn't hear you, or maybe no one had anything to say on the matter.

 

Or maybe they're douches. We don't have enough information to say for sure which.

What did you say? Was it relevant to the discussion the overall group was having? They might simply be uninterested in your topic.

Typically, I'll just turn to them and say something along the lines of 'HOLD DA FUQ ON, i just said something and ya'll ignored me, we got beef or something homies?' (Well, not exactly like that, but with a similar meaning). 

 

Just be upfront about it, question them, make them aware you're not happy that they're ignoring you.

I didn't read the post properly, and read it as 'when you're with a group of friends'; if OP is talking about people in general, and more formal situations, then he certainly should not do what i said  :lol:

Unless you said something completely stupid and they ignored it because of that. Otherwise, they have no reason to ignore it.

I live in the US at the moment, and I am 16, while the people were around 18-25, like college students and recent college grads

I don't quite remember but the last time happened I asked one of the recent college grads about how long did it take him learn and start coding in C++, since he was saying how he made a bunch of programs and I am interested in learning programming, specially C#, so thought he can give me some info that could be related

Hmm well I can't really tell you what the problem is then. If that's what people were talking about, then it simply sounds like they were being rude. Maybe they don't like you? (No offense, I don't know you or them). Maybe they're jerks? Maybe they just don't want to be sitting around talking to a 16 year old? Some people in their late teens-early twenties think people your age are just "uncool".
