Why 2X 960's?

Youll also want to get a Z97 motherboard to make use of that K processor.

I highly suggest adding in an SSD as well.

4690K // 212 EVO // Z97-PRO // Vengeance 16GB // GTX 770 GTX 970 // MX100 128GB // Toshiba 1TB // Air 540 // HX650

Logitech G502 RGB // Corsair K65 RGB (MX Red)

ya dont SLI I say this as someone who runs its SLI only makes sense on the higher tier cards when you just want more power.

from what I can tell for about $30 you can just get a 980.

Well i want 2 960s because right now i want to use 1 as an external gpu for my laptop and then when i buy the rest of the pc i will get another one and i know i could get a 970 or 390. Why is it so bad to get 2 960s?

You realize you are going to have to get one of those absurd GPU enclosures that needs to be plugged into a wall and makes a phone book look small right to use one on a laptop right?

anyways there are multiple reasons the big ones are this

performance is not consistent...in battlefield 3/4 I get about 80% increase in fps yay

other games you will see like...5 fps increase

others you will see 0 increase

others you will see even worse performance, its not super common but i would say there is at least 1 game I play a year that just gets pissed off with SLI on

its more power hungry

its more hot and will reduce OC potential.

a single more powerful card will not have these issues
