http://pcpartpicker.com/p/4sBPkLThis is my first build. I will use this PC mostly for programming, to watch movies and virtualization. I might not play games. However, I will buy a video card (I just selected this video card since it has decent reviews). I will use SSD for operating system. I would like to know if everything is ok. I am very nervous and excited at the same time since it's my first time building a PC. I am a noob when it comes to building PCs. Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

I agree with the first 2 comments. Don't get that PSU also. Get a EVGA G2 or GS Series.

Get a 2x8GB memory kit, not two 1x8GB kits. Buying separate kits runs the risk that the memory will not be able to run dual channel. You can probably get away with a 2x4GB kit unless the plan is to run a number of concurrent VM.

A bigger ssd is required. At least 120GB, but 240GB+ would be better. Unless you plan to keep a lot of games and media, you might consider going with a 480GB ssd and no hdd.

Without an after market cpu cooler, you will not be able to overclock the cpu. I would suggest getting a locked processor and H97 motherboard. An i5-4590 or Xeon E3-1231 V3 would be good choices.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

How about locked i7-4790 or  i5-4690 ? :/

This might be a dumb question. Do I really need to buy case fan separetely ? shouldn't it come with the case?

Thank you soo much for helping me.

The Xeon E3-1231 V3 is simply to save money.  It is closely comparable to a i7 4770, but for less money.

Not all cases come with the right amount of fans.

@buffnerd77, what kind of programs do you run? I've never personally done coding, I don't know how demanding it is. From an outside perspective, the most demanding scenarios would be running simulations. But what kind of simulations?

If you're trying to simulate the gravitational effects of 3 celestial bodies, then a hyperthreaded Xeon would be a great choice. But if you're trying to simulate a ball dropping to the ground under the effects of gravity (possibly with air resistance, that shit is deep), then you wouldn't need anything as powerful as a Xeon.

Coding is a bit vague. I've got a friend who's quite a good coder and he's using an FX-6100. He seems okay with his choice of CPU (despite him having bought it a number of years ago).

I would go with what @stconquest suggested. It seems like a solid build.

I am planning to run Android SDK and  Mac OS, and Linux in Vmware. That's pretty much it.

Thank you very much.
