Hello so I'm building a heavy editing computer workstation for a company and i need to put a quadro in it, this computer is not going to be for gaming only editing with high resolutions and 3d modeling and i was looking at quadros but there were so many and coming from the geforce consumer grade cards i can't tell the difference other than the amount of vram they have, im planning to put a titan x also for the extra cuda core prosessing.

tl;dr i need help choosing a quadro.

If you have the money why don't you look into a K6000. Avoid the K6000M due to the low FP64 compute performance unless it doesn't matter.

Here's a good place to start :)

http://www.nvidia.ca/object/compare-quadro-gpus.html

Basically, get the best one you can afford.

Keep in mind, Quadro's can get SUPER pricey. Here's the top of the line Maxwell Quadro:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0AJ35P6060&cm_re=quadro_m6000-_-14-133-586-_-Product

Brace yourself, it's $5900 USD.

If you're serious about rendering, I wouldn't look at anything under the K4200, or even K5200:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133558&cm_re=nvidia_quadro-_-14-133-558-_-Product

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133557&cm_re=nvidia_quadro-_-14-133-557-_-Product

Although with these prices, a Titan X might simply be sufficient.

What features does the Quadro have that you need and why wouldn't a GeForce be able to do it. Might save you a lot of money mate.

k4200? its a good sweet spot unless you need a ton of money. I would also suggest getting a 5820k as its useful to have the extra cores.

I second this. If you're running a true Workstation for editing and rendering, you'll use the extra cores by going with a i7-5820k or higher. You'll need to switch to LGA 2011, and possibly DDR4. While DDR4 isn't really much faster than DDR3, you might simply be unable to get a DDR3 motherboard for the 5820k.

I have a K4000 in my workstation, I belive the updated version (K4200) is about $800. I think the next step up is going to be just outside of your price range.

If your building a system like that it would be best to do It on the LGA 2011-V3 and get yourself a Zeon or i7 More cores

You must use DDR4 on lga 2011v3(unless you are running certian xeon's) as the memory controller is on the cpu.
