What would you do with an old almost obsolete PC?

I have an old PC that has a shitty AMD Athlon, 1gb of RAM and 200gb of storage. Is there anything useful i can do with it. 

I was thinking about making a dedicated torrent machine, or a NAS perhaps, i'd just need some more HDD's, what do you think? 

Specs: AMD FX 6300 @ 4ghz, Asus R9 270 OC, 8gb Corsair xms3, Cooler Master GX 550w PSU, WD 500 blue, Gigabyte  GA-970A-DS3

NAS could be a nice idea, can use PLEX to stream media around your house, or as an HTPC, or web server or something

 

Or clean it up, and give it to somebody as a basic browsing machine

If I was you I'd put in another GB of RAM and give it to someone who wants an Internet Machine.

It is already beat up, i used to hit it with a baseball bat to see how it hold up, I payed 10€ for it anyway.

Give it to a family member who only browses the web. Or you could just destroy it lol (that's what I did to my old PC from 2001), maybe salvage some useful parts in the process.

I probably wouldn't bother turning it into a NAS. It's easier and cheaper (after a couple years) to just buy a new PC. I was going to turn my old q6600 system into a NAS, but the energy savings alone after 18 months pays off the cost of a new pentium based system.

yes, you can set that up, it would download torrents over night and you could than access them on your PC over LAN.

I think yes. That'd be what I'd do with it.

 

However, if you want to do something more creative with it, you could always mulltiboot a few different Linux distros, see if you like any of them as a free alternative to your own OS.
