what happens when you put a amd and a nvidia gpu in the same pc and actively use both cards

won't go boom. but won't work together either.

wait for DX12 that's coming with Windows 10. DX12 will support different GPU crossfire.

but since it's not released yet. no one knows the exact SOP or requirements.

no, you cant use them both at the same time for gaming, only distributed computing, just use the card powering the games to power the displays too. There is some way to jerry rig an old nvidia gpu to use physx, but i dont know if thats still possible/how hard it would be to do

you can´t use them at the same time, because they need the same architecture and nvidia and amd obviously doesn´t have the same, but you can have them both in the same PC so you can switch when you want to use the amd or nvidia features.

Not for gaming - not at the same time

for GPGPU you can use both at the same time

No

I believe with the 15.7 drivers, AMD has enabled crossfire between 200 and 300 series cards

I've used an r9 270 for my main display and plugged another display into the iGPU in my Kaveri and it worked fine, as long as I only rendered the game on the screen plugged into the main GPU

IDK if it matters that they're the same brand, they're different GPUs so they can't work together to render a frame anyway

Probably something like Nvidia + Voodoo cars and AMD + ATI cards... oh wait....

Probably won't work, r7 370 is what the r7 265 used to be

You can't cfx a 265 and a 270, so you can't cfx a 370 and a 270

Yes you can CF a 265 and 270. No problem, they are both GCN 1.0.

Yes you can CF a 270 and 370 - AMD ninja added CF profiles for 200 series to CF with 300 series cards (have to be the same cards though, so 270 + 370 will work, but 280X + 370 wont) into their latest drivers (just saw a YT video on it from NCIX tech tips i think it was)

270 has 1280 SP

370 has 1024 SP

They're not the same gpu

Also Pitcairn (270) is GCN 1.0 and Bonaire (265) is GCN 1.1

Unless crossfire somehow works with different GPUs, these don't work together

Edit: it doesn't
