Which CPU Do I Need?

i5 4690k or AMD 8350?

I'm literally torn between the two. I can't decide which.

I know that Intel has the Hyperthreading technology that helps with multitasking.

The AMD FX CPU has 8 cores.

Which one?

(Edited because I meant 4690k.)

i5 doesn't have hyperthreading. AMD cores are significantly weaker than intel's cores, so even in multithreaded workloads, i5 isn't that behind the 8350, while in single threaded workloads, i5 crushes the 8350.

i5 4670k will be better.

And i5 does not have hyperthreading.

Also AMD FX 8core is not true 8core as well.

if you require lots of core for processing (virtual Machines), get AMD

anything else get inel

The 4670K does not have hyper-threading. Only the 4770K does. What do you plan to do with the system?

well, it's a true 8 core as in it has 8 physical cores, but I get your point.  Cache is bridged between 2 cores each, instead of each core getting its own bank like on the 4670k

Get the 4690K!!!!! You'll get better thermal performance over the 4670k.

9 out of 10 will go for Intel cause of overall performance of their CPU's. Don't side with those 1/10 you will find out why they are minority if you buy FX. I was in same dilemma in effort to save some cash but in the end it turned out that in my country am3+ is more expensive then 1150 mobo's and that reduced the price gap to zero so I went for i5 4460. Never looked back.
