I have my i7 5820k OC'd to 4.5Ghz, 1.296V. I ran stability test several times through AIDA with no problems. Today, I ran it again because sometimes my games crash, and I let it run for about an hour with no problems. Once I stopped the test, I rebooted immediatley (manually) and gotta an "overtemperature and voltage error" on post. Went into bios and monitor shows voltages in red and temperature within safe range dropping quickly. I dont know if the temperatures were still stabilizing after the stress test but those voltages are whats bothering me. The temperature is 37 idle normally. under stress I seen them hit 82 c max. This error happened first time since i built the pc, and i ran the stability test before but never over an hour.

The big qestion is, why didnt it show in Windows during stability test. At least a blue screen becasue the temps were looking good. Voltage was ok! Oh by the way, the voltages in bios showed 1.6...

Stability test only shows one part of the puzzle. It doesn't add in the stress of the PCI-E subsystem.

The New Machine: Intel 11700K / Strix Z590-A WIFI II / Patriot Viper Steel 4400MHz 2x8GB / Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC w/ Bykski WB / x4 1TB SSDs (x2 M.2, x2 2.5) / Corsair 5000D Airflow White / EVGA G6 1000W / Custom Loop CPU & GPU

Should i be enabling/disabling something in the bios thats uping the voltages? Do i have something on/off thst shou/shouldnt be? Is bios reporting false temp/voltage? Monitor in bios is always reporting different numbers like core speed is showing 4.1gh and ratio of 33 and voltage @1.312.. I have it manually et @1.296 and cpu core ratio@36.

I found my answer.. It has to do with asus' x99 EC (embedded controller) .. Here is a link for those who own the asus x99 boards..
