Hey guys, I know I've posted before on a related issue to this, but I'm wondering if I can actually FIX my PCI-E 2.0 issue. I read up that having your 1x slot occupied by something like a wifi adapter or TV tuner can cause this but the interesting thing is, nothing is on my other 2.0 1x slot. Any help? Here are my specs:

Intel Core i5-4570

8 GB RAM (Single Channel)

Nvidia Geforce GTX 760

600 Watt PSU

MSI H81-E33.

Lots of people will say don't worry (you shouldn't you won't notice a difference)

But it might be worth checking the slot is clear of debris and none of the pins are bent or missing on either the card or the slot.

It may also be a driver or bios issue, make sure you're 100% up to date!

easiest way would be clicking that question mark in GPU-Z next to the PCI-E lanes it will pop a little test and most likely switch into x16 mode

anyway don't sweat it

Even at 2.0 x8? (Just a quick clarification)

It won't effect performance. But it is indicative of an underlying issue. I had the same puzzling thing with my system for the longest time until I figured out that the rear of my case is warped by a fraction of an inch, causing my GPU to unseat itself from the PCI-E slot when screwed in all the way. This made it so the card was making enough contact to run at X8 1.1 mode and that's it.

Interesting... what exactly was going on? Fun fact: According to Avatar (where I bought my rig from) when my mobo was in RMA, this board was running at x16, but when I got it its now running@ x8

I ended up having to become creative with the screw down of my card to hold it down completely. Pop your case open and see of the card is seated all the way in the slot.

I looked at it, seems all the way reseated, how did you know it wasn't seated all the way btw?

It was visible.I could see the rear of the PCI-E connector on the card lifting out of the slot, bare connectors and all.

Yeah, I don't notice that at ALL on my slot. However, Avatar (the company who built my rig) told me this board was running at x16 when they had it (I had to RMA this board for a replacement due to the slot being as low as x2). But when I got it back, its now running at x8

Hmmm sounds like bad parts. See if you can get them to replace it with a different model all together. Maybe try another card in the slot just to be sure if you can.
