So I have this old stereo deal, and it's pretty much dead. So I gutted it, but it was dusty. So I got my trusty gutted Dell PSU-turned-crap extractor, and it was almost completely clean when I started. When I was done, the fan looked like this.

i know dem feels, i have a large fan to suck dust away from me when i'm exploring the gloriousness of my latest finds.

 

this one time i opened a system, the "hood" came off with a pop, filling my entire room with a dust cloud. thats 20 years of not cleaning for ya...

I am not sure TBH. I'm not sure exactly how I would carry it out.

Mine is 99.97% pure Dell Air. Although surprisingly, with larger dust bunnies, that fan does not let anything through.

Well, there appears to be a decent amount of room for some parts... I think I need to find a cheap micro-ATX, low profile deal to weld to the bottom. Then I need to find a way to get a PSU mounted. And I'd need to fab a rear panel, and then figure out a way to make the power button functional.

hmmm... low profile...

 

Try flipping the board so that the vent holes are aligned with the CPU fan... better overall cooling imo...

 

I suggest mounting the PSU to the top cover of the unit (make it flush to top)... it's a bit inflexible and it could be noisy but it should work...

 

as for the power buttons... try looking at the PCB and figure out something...

Looks like you're going to have to fashion your own power buttons...

 

I thought it had a board behind the front panel like the one in my Sony component system...

 

Personally, I'd try to get a DIY amplifier in there... along with the switch... and maybe try to get some LED action in that window...

 

It'll be even  more awesome to get everything on that front panel functioning in some way...
