Native Spears help: Paper

Okay, I now this is kind of ridiculous of asking something like this on a tech forum, but I've been pushing it around for half an hour now and my education won't help me any more, i think..

I'm currently sitting at my desk finishing up a paper I've been working on all semester and have to turn in tomorrow. I'm writing the abstract. And I cannot make my mind around a grammatical construction, so I#d gladly appreciate help of any  native Speaker^^

 

It's a research paper and I want to state that any sources that are used in my paper were selected according the criteria that they were published within the past 5 years so:

 

"Any work this paper is based upon has to be published within the last five years"? or  "Any work this paper is based upon has had to be published within the last five years"

 

I googled the hell out of English grammar and tense rules, but don't get it. And since it's the second page of the thing that literally everybody will read I'd like to get it right ^^

 

It's kind of sad but I guess I'm currently missing the forest because of all the trees (if that idiom exists in english :P  )

I'd say the first (has to be published), but I am not 100% sure.

Well, since it's a range of time, my German high school education tells me it hast to be a 'perfect' tense. Also passive. So either Passive Past Perfect or Passive Present Perfect^^  The German version'd be 'ist innerhalb der letzten 5 Jahre veröffentlich worden"

That was way to easy - thinking a bit outside the box sometimes helps... A pity there is no chapter for acknowledgements - "Also, thanks to NARAKU_KAT of the LTT-Forum.."  :P
