Hey, I recently built a new PC with an intel 5820k and Asus x99-a mobo..

I've started to overclock it manually after using AI suite to suggest a 4.4Ghz clock @ 1.289 volts

Problem is, I'm manually setting the core clock ratio of 44 (all cores) x 100, disabling Asus multicore enchancement, manually entering the voltage, booting to windows fine, but not getting the correct frequency in windows (according to CPU-Z and real temp - although the latter does report 4400 briefly when I load it up) everything caps down to 3300 mhz, with power savings off. I get a feeling I'm missing something really obvious. BIOS does report target frequency of 4400, POST screen displays "incorrect" frequency too, so I'm guessing there's a BIOS settings somewhere I'm missing.

PS, Mobo switches (TPU etc) are all off. Please, make me look stupid! :P

EDIT: 1.289 volts :P

first of all, if your CPU is at 2.89 volts your house has probably burnt down already

second, based on the fact that your CPU is NOT at 2.89 volts, you probably dont know how to overclock

third, you should probably go back to the beginning and figure out what you're trying to do before you kill your $500 CPU

One of the best posts i have seen so far on this forum, i have to thank you.

@whatsoup

Enderman is right, i agree with him, and i'd also suggest this:

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/41234-intel-haswell-4670k-4770k-overclocking-guide/

Is the same for your cpu, but seeing how you did 'til now i guess you'd better stick with things that are the same...

Ha, slight mistype there 1.289 volts :P

Nice try though Enderman, if you can answer my question go for it, you wont find it in that video

run a stress test like intel XTU then tell us what the core frequency is at

also please post a pic of your CPU-Z
