AMD Budget Build - Dedicated GPU +/-

Is this a good budget build? I will start off with the integrated graphics and then buy the GPU later on ($500 is my budget right now), when i have the $$$ i will then get the GPU. I've already got all of my other peripherals and OS and stuff. I will be playing games like Crysis 2/3, MW3, League-MAYBE, Star Wars Battlefront (The new one) and other fps games and stuff and racing games like NFS, etc.

Get an i5 4430 instead of that CPU. Then you wouldn't need a CPU cooler and could get a much better motherboard for that price. It would also perform MUCH better in many tasks, and would never really be worse. It may be a tiny bit slower before you get the GPU, but even then the added CPU performance is well worth it. You could also start off with 8gb of ram, so you could get the GPU earlier.

That CPU will bottleneck the R9 390. Ditch it, and go Intel. Not a fanboy, as I own an FX 6300. But for that card, you want an i5.

That 390 is not gunna get good performance at all. It's usage will not be near 100% like it should be.

That CPU is too weak. For the 280x/960 you'd want an Intel driven CPU, pref a i5 or better to not be limited by ANYTHING CPU wise...

 

Dat Athlon....It will see 30-40FPS in GTA5, it should be getting 70fps+

Other games will be less problematic, some will be worse.

I like it, look at my build.  Yours will be very similar.  I like mine a lot.

 

For $800 you're not going to get a much better build.

For a very limited budget build, this is good. It's not meh because you're not struggling to run anything side-scroller level or less demanding, but it's not exactly elite because you won't be able to run much. From what I've seen from people like Tech of Tomorrow, though, APUs do actually fairly well.

 

I'd also like to mention that I have one, and It seems to do the job with my R7 260X to run a fair few past-gen games. There's also apparently a dual-graphics (Crossfire/SLI across APU and GPU?) feature which I really haven't been able to tap into.

 

If you want anything more powerful, listen to the guys above. Once you want to be future proof and have got into computers (hardware and software performance, I guess), you can jump up to Intel. AMDs fine for very limited stuff, but it's a kind of midway across - in console terms - an Xbox 360 and a PS4. It can run pretty much anything that the 360 could run you throw at it, but may struggle with higher PS4 titles. I'm speaking figuratively, of course; there's lots of behind-the-scenes stuff with consoles and I'm not even bothering, just trying to prove a point.

Thats not too bad, but yeah more gpu bound,...If you can... can you load the game, get in game, and set 1080p (to reflect avg users), tell me the FPS you see.

It is a good build however if you are going to get a mini itx then it's not a good idea to get an r9 390 due to the small space and temperature. Get a mid tower case.

I kinda wonder why people says FX bottle the 970... I have a MSI 970 OC but it is almost at stock speed so its not as good as MSI Gaming edition.

 

It is a good build however if you are going to get a mini itx then it's not a good idea to get an r9 390 due to the small space and temperature. Get a mid tower case.

I think the 390 can make it fine but he should make sure the case have decent ventilation unless he has blower version...

 

Oh and the 130 was the case I wanted originally but I doubt it is well vented so he should change the case!

I wont lie, I think it will only improve to about 50fps.  I will though, soon.
