Will this be a bottleneck

Go to solution Solved by Nonco,

Hello.

I was planing to get this mobo and this CPU to go with my AMD R9 270x (already have) and I was wondering if the i7 would bottleneck that R9 270x.

Also I have a corsair 500w psu which should be enough but just want to double check because I don't want to buy a new one if I don't have to.

Youll be absolutely fine.

However do you actually need the i7 4790K? Is this build just for games or will you be doing other things with it?

No. It won't  bottleneck.

Well considering dual titan x would not be bottlenecked by a 4790k....

For only gaming get an i5 4690k

Laptop: Thinkpad W520 i7 2720QM 24GB RAM 1920x1080 2x SSDs Main Rig: 4790k 12GB Hyperx Beast Zotac 980ti AMP! Fractal Define S (window) RM850 Noctua NH-D15 EVGA Z97 FTW with 3 1080P 144hz monitors from Asus Secondary: i5 6600K, R9 390 STRIX, 16GB DDR4, Acer Predator 144Hz 1440P

As Centos 7 SU once said: With great power comes great responsibility.

Alrighty, just making sure, some people go all out on an i7 unlocked edition and just play games where they could have just gone for an i5 :P

Only thing id look into would be a better motherboard which allows for better overclocking otherwise its kinda a waste to get the unlocked CPU

(I dont think the B85 series actually allow overclocking?)
