Which mouse?

Go to solution Solved by brokencross,

Fingers together, my hands are about 3 and 3/4 inches (9.5cm) wide. I tend to use a claw/palm grip.

So essentially fingertip grip?

The FK1/FK2 and ZA11/ZA12/ZA13 are made for clawgrip, although I have 19cm long hands and still find it comfortable using a fingertip grip (I use a FK1).

The EC1-A/EC2-A are made for palm grip/fingertip grip. They're similar to the MS IE3.0.

Well I've had neither of those issues so...

You would notice if you actually played with a mouse with a perfect sensor.

It also depends on what sens you play and what you play. A mouse with an imperfect sensor will always fuck you when you rely on muscle memory.

rat7 is laser, doesn't compete.

Myth! All mice are optical, but some mice are illuminated with an LED, and others with a laser. Lasers work just fine on hard surfaces, but not on soft, because they are MORE accurate. The laser counts each fiber in a cloth pad, while the LED only counts the bumps on the cloth. This is according to François Morier. "Senior engineer at Logitech for 15 years. And in this case, ‘senior engineer’ is a bit of an understatement: when it comes to designing mouse sensors, Morier is The Guy at Logitech. He knows more about mouse sensors than just about anyone else on the planet." This is an excerpt from this article at PC Gamer :http://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-mouse-myths-busted/

yes. and there is no laser sensor that doesn't have some kind of flaw with it. in theory it's the same, in practice it doesn't work the same.

Which one would you recommend?

Any from the current line-up.

They all have the same guts, only the shape differs.

Having said that you should try them or at least tell us what type of grip you use and what mice you had and liked so we can tell you what'll fit your hand better.

CMOS Sensor, Laser ILLUMINATED. LED illuminated mice also have flaws.

which exact sensor/mouse are you talking about?  LED illuminated mice have flaws like not working on reflective surfaces, but they have best tracking at the moment.

Altough it should be noted that PTE is only optical because it uses optics to focus light, not because it takes pictures, so in a sense it is not optical.

When I'm just moving the mouse, I use a palm grip. I shift to having my palm resting on the mouse and my fingers at angle onto the buttons when I am clicking, if that makes any sense.

Yeah, it's an hybrid fingertip/palm grip.

I'm almost the same.

You just answered your own question.

No I didn't. The fact that optical mice don't work on reflective surfaces is much smaller problem than smoothing/acceleration/input lag/jitter that laser sensors have.
