"New" GPU for an old PC

Go to solution Solved by Vegetable,

Hey i just acquired a dell XPS 410 from a friend here are the specs:

Intel e6700

4GB DDR2@ 667 MHz

PNY Gt 210

The psu is only 375W with one pcie 6 pin

The main problem is that the pcie slot is only gen 1 so idk what i can get, ive been looking at a 550 ti for like 50$

idk guys i need help i cant decide what to do, i know its not worth upgrading but i want a second pc for when my friends come over to play small games like league on :P

alright, I used to run a e6850, and I can say that the CPU will bottleneck even a GT 440. I don't recommend anything past maybe a 550 ti at that rate, because past that level of GPU it will just be wasted performance in bottlenecks.

CPU: INTEL Core i7 4790k @ 4.7Ghz - Cooling: NZXT Kraken X61 - Mobo: Gigabyte Z97X SLI - RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ares 2400mhz - GPU: AMD Sapphire Nitro R9 Fury 4G - Case: Phanteks P350X - PSU: EVGA 750GQ - Storage: WD Black 1TB - Fans: 2x Noctua NF-P14s (Push) / 2x Corsair AF140 (Pull) / 3x Corsair AF120 (Exhaust) - Keyboard: Corsair K70 Cherry MX Red - Mouse: Razer Deathadder Chroma

Bit of an AMD fan I suppose. I don't bias my replies to anything however, I just prefer AMD and their products. Buy whatever the H*CK you want.

Further inspecting benchmarks, this guy is right

I ran a gt 440 on my e6850 for a year, I honestly couldn't even run TF2 at playable FPS. Upgraded to q6600, and overclocked it to 3ghz. Got me to 2015 running the latest games a gtx 570 could run if that says anything at all.
