so i am trying to make this laptop faster for a friend he told me that it is around 2008. my question is will a SSD still make a difference as i presume its SATA 2 due to the age

i understand the reed and write speeds wont be as advertised how ever will the quick boot and snappiness of an ssd be there

Because most operations taking place in an OS are 4K and 4K32, you will see a significant performance increase, even if the laptop is not SATAIII compliant. FYI, I've tested 4K and 4K32 between both my hard drives and Intel 520 SSD - the SSD is something like 100x faster during those operations.

SATA 2 has a max theoretical speed of 375 MB/s (3 Gb/s), so let's say the SSD will get ~300 MB/s, that's still quite a bit faster than a traditional hard drive, which I believe top out at around 150 MB/s - 200 MB/s

It'll make the laptop feel like new, given that the CPU nor RAM arent holding back the system
