MSI GS60?

honestly tough, you really don't need a 970M for minecraft and LoL.

if you really only play those games i recommend you get something cheaper.

I'm not sure if lol and mc will be the only games I'm interested in when I enter high school(already looking into crysis and batman). I won't be replacing this laptop for 4 years so I'm hoping for one that's durable and can last quite some time. Would the Razer Blade be sufficient?

Yeah it'll definitely do. It's pretty expensive tough. Maybe you can look into some of the models by origin or MSI? Depending on where you live you could also look at BTO's site

Seems a bit overkill... plus not sure what your highschools are like but something like that would get stolen in a heartbeat here :P

Yeah I was thinking about that, not sure if I'd buy the Blade or any laptop that looks expensive.

I've looking into the MSI series and I feel like their a bit too flashy. What about the Sager NP8651?

You actually don't need a strong horse power laptop to play games like DOTA or LoL or minecraft but if you want to then I'm not so sure if u can get GTX 960m or 970m around 1599 USD. Do you value portability and battery life?

Of course, I'll probably be bringing this laptop to school daily.

What about the Sager NP8651?

That right there, is an awesome machine. Based on Clevo's barebones of the P650SE, it comes with a 970M, 3 cooling fans with 2 for the GPU and the last for the CPU. 2 M.2 SSD slots and 2 2.5" SATA slots which can be configured in RAID. 4 RAM slots for a maximum of 32GB of DDR3 RAM. 25mm in thickness and approximately 2.5kg. It is light and slim enough to carry almost everywhere.

Linus did a review on the P650SE before, but it was from an Australian Clevo reseller called Venom, and they called it the Blackbook 15, check the vid out for a rather extensive review.

Well the only site that has it for sale that I know of is XoticPC, is that a reliable site?

Yes it is reliable. For Sager, a few sites sell their machines

www.sagernotebook.com

www.xoticpc.com

www.lpc-digital.com

Sager's own website seems to have cheaper rates.

And if any case you don't want to get a P650SE from Sager, there's also other Clevo resellers out there.

What about the HP Omen and the Fangbook Edge laptops? What do you guys think of them and would it be good for me?

The HP Omen is a sweet ass machine, except you only get a 860M and a SSD with a max of 512GB by default. The Fangbook Edge is practically the same as the MSI GS60, except without the SteelSeries RGB nonsense.

The HP Omen at best buy has a 960M but I think it's an 8G RAM and 256 SSD which is pretty low for a gaming/school laptop IMO.

Okay lolz, you're college student right? umm ultrabook like Dell 13 7000 series (touchscreen) or HP spectre x360 is strong enough to run DOTA or CS GO around 30Fps+ if u put on medium. I don't expect you to do gaming on the go unless you carry charger

Well so far I think the Sager is probably the most specced up laptop for its price. Although I'm wondering, should I upgrade more SSD or lower SSD and buy IC Diamond Thermal Paste for cooling? Also, what's the difference between a Kingston HyperX DDR3 and a normal DDR3?

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series

I use it in High School for projects and slight gaming

I usually play at around 40-55 fps max settings on CS:GO

I play Arma 3 at around 20-30 fps lowest settings

Pros:

Great Battery life (6 hours while browsing and making docs.)

Not to flashy

5th Gen Intel core I7

White backlit keyboard with almost no flex

MacBook form factor

Cons:

Uses iGPU

Runs hot during gaming sessions

Quite heavy but thin

Touchpad is poor

I would honestly try to get any MSI laptop if you really want to play graphics intensive games; I heard Sagers are quite heavy and thick to bring around

But if you play MOBA's or CS:GO some business laptops will be better for productivity and Battery life combined with the ability to play games

MSI Laptops are too flashy and it'd be stolen in a heartbeat. Sager looks just like a grey/black ordinary laptop. I won't be playing hardcore, I still need to study. Only on free times will I be playing hardcore (which is practically never for my highschool).

To me, I don't think there's a noticeable difference, it's just a personal preference.

I should get the thermal paste or SSD upgrade?

My bad lol. Erm, it's up to you to decide which fits you better, though I would get the thermal paste as the SSD I can get it down the road a little later and clone the default SSD over.
