100% depends what the computer is for. I easily use more than 4gb of ram using certain programs like games and adobe suite, I can even use more than 4gb of ram just browsing the web

There is no performance boost unless you are using more than 4gb of ram, however 4gb is not very much any more 8gb is minimum for me, ideally 16gb for heavier use

8gb is getting the standard these days.

If you are going to use it for gaming get 8gb for a bit of office and browsing 4gb will do.

no "Performance" unless you're running more programs that'd require more than 4GB I highly recommend 8GB unless it's just for word proccessing and web surfing

I find having only 4Gb a pain. Upgrading to 8Gb ASAP (as soon as my paycheck hits I'm off to the store)

What are the rest of the specs?

Minecraft is better if you can allocate it more ram, I give it like 4gb alone

BF4 can use 3-5gb of ram

RAM does not effect performance (within reason). If a program uses 3GB of RAM, you will see no performance benefits from having 4GB vs 32GB. What DOES affect performance is when you don't have enough RAM. If a program uses 5GB, you will get HUGE performance drops if the program only has 4GB available to it.

In modern gaming, it is generally advised to have 8GB of RAM. RAM isn't expensive, it doesn't really die (within reason), and if they do, they usually have a lifetime warranty meaning you can get yourself a new stick for free if you RMA it. 8GB is now the new standard.

4GB for gaming will have stutters, IF NOT increased loading times and possibly some frame inconsistency for many games...

My mums machine on world of tanks and world of warplanes improved greatly going from 4GB to 8GB.

Like no lag, get 8GB, don't mind, do whatever you want.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

You will want 8gb so you can open at least 2 Chrome tabs while a game is running.

/s

But seriously, get 8gb over 4 gb. You will need it. 4gb is not a lot anymore these days.

Well it is more for those intensive games that you'd want the 8GB anyway. They in fact use more than lighter titles, so you'll need more to ensure top performance in those titles.

I opened BF4, MP 64p for a quick look, memory used for BF4.exe was 3.9GB (by itself) after everything loaded and I waited 30s and looked.

It was a joke. Chrome is known for using excessively large amounts of RAM.

Yeah if its all you can afford, you don't have much choice.
