I've been on youtube forever and as of the past couple of days a couple of videos that I know have been all the way up to 4K, (even though I only have a 1080p),

now the settings are 720p or 360p, are the only selections!

Anyone have this happen to them?

I noticed an old post about 2013 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/69877-youtube-only-showing-quality-upto-720p/ with a similar problem but it was locked so no new comments.

nice tags....

just look at youtube with hate. they continually mess things up over there.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

I am using IE 11 on Windows 7 Hone Premium (after my last PC I won't install anything on except for updates from the 'Soft').

i dont dont know if it will help but update to the new youtube player https://www.youtube.com/testtube

I tried testtube and it looks nice without the bars on top and bottom but still 720p.

I checked my kid's their PC's are 7 home like mine and works on Chrome and IE 11.

As of lately still same issue and a minor LOOKING detail I missed until I restarted a couple times.

When I boot up my PC only the tv/monitor tells the current resolution it starts with the full

1920x1080p 60Hz  that is the Gateway with hit Del for bios.

When the Windows 7 logo starts swirling the res changed to just

1080p 60Hz  notice the 1920 is not there I don't now if it makes a difference.

I tried a couple of 1080p videos I own ran with VLC media player worked fine codec stated 1920x1080p no bars works fine plays smoothly.

I just tried a 4k video in Real Player (forgot I even had that, it's been a couple years since I used it) it was slow and choppy but it gave me that option!

I  just tried a 1080p it worked smoothly.
