Windows 8 vs Windows 7 Pro

Well, windows 7 is alot more sluggish even on an SSD. On my system, windows 8.1 pro ran alot snappier than windows 7 did. I thought my windows installation was corrupted or something, but all windows 7 machines I've tried after that are just as sluggish compared to 8.1. But as of today it won't matter since windows 10 is coming soon.

I think you should check your installation. I see literally no difference on either one. Specs are on my profile page. They're nothing pathetic and are quite average. Literally no difference. I did happen to notice a difference when I was using both OSs on my old Core 2 Quad system with a HDD but, if you had a skin to make both OSs look the same on my current hardware I honestly couldn't tell a difference.

 

 

How would I download the start button? Sorry noobish with OS, and does it have the ability to be in desktop mode like 8.1 or no?

 

Ok thanks, I forgot about Windows 10...So if I use Windows 7 Pro, is it a Pro version of Windows 10 or is it Windows 10 only no pro or whatever?

You can download Classic Shell here. http://www.classicshell.net/ That creates a nice start button for ya :)

 

And if you use Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate you get Windows 10 Pro for free in the upgrade. Anything less means you get the standard version.

I do believe Windows 8's theme is less visually heavy making it very light in terms of RAM usage. It would probably physically move at a higher framerate, though that doesn't make it "faster"

I don't think I claimed it was "faster" i just said it was "snappier" very snappy, very smooth. Windows 7 stutters when moving.

It's the diffrence between someone who's used to smooth fluid movement vs somone who's not. Kind of like how console players will argue how 24/30fps is smooth enough when pc players will say its not. Depends on what you're used to.

Oh nah, not gonna argue a console-type argument. 60 FPS improves gameplay for certain, just doesn't do anything for me in Windows.

Nothing is certain. As I can argue that windows 8 being smoother is "certain" unsmooth movements may look smooth to someone else.
