babadoctor

Hello,

I was going to the website thepiratebay.se and for some reason it redirected me to this video:

i have time warner cable and i assume this is my first strike? because all of yesterday my internet redirected me from thepiratebay to there. today its fine though. On my other internet connection it worked fine. can someone give me some insight? i dont even know what that video is even suppose to mean. I dont even torrent that much!! I JUST WANTED TO WATCH A DARN MOVIE...

OFF TOPIC: I suggest every poll from now on to have "**CK EA" option instead of "Other"

Try a different browser or PC. If it was strike you'd get a later.

i dont even know what that video is even suppose to mean.

It's kind of obvious what the video means lol, don't pirate.

BUT thepiratebay/torrents aren't just for illegal things, they can distribute things legally too, like Linux distros. That's the weird part.

The pirate bay uses services that make it hard for a site to be blocked via IP address (this is due to the new AUS laws and other attempted take-downs).

I'd say it uses a whole bunch of P2P connections to keep the site up, i.e. people hosting the site which someone has ingeniously placed a redirect to that video for lols

I don't copy any floppies, so I haven't checked The Pirate Bay, but I'm guessing it was probably caused by someone messing with the domain.

Just a guess though.

Strikes are always via email, and you get 6 of them before you need to be worried. That and there are minor offences that are purely informational and MUCH more common. Get yourself a nice VPN and boom your problem's solved. If it makes you feel any better, I have like 3 strikes and I don't even want to know how many minor offences. At this point I'm thinking about a VPN but there's nothing to worry about.

Lucky, Charter gave me one warning, but in reality, it was also do to my Pi being taken over and used as a spambot, and it did very good at hiding it from me on the router, took forever to find what it was.

I've only gotten a strike for seeding a torrent, but of course, that's on Verizon. They told me if YOU were sharing (seeding) the certain content, then you'll get a strike. I got this in an email.

Honestly don't know why it took you to that video. Do you have AdBlock? :P Thepiratebay always has some weird shit going on.

I wonder when they are going to start giving strikes to people using vpns to get around things, like right now I am on one logged into a British server to watch the last topgear on bbc iplayer.
