What is the smartest choice for ultra 1440p ?

GGNN

Hey guys!

I'm soon going to buy a new 144Hz 1440p monitor (not sure which yet, since the price difference between G-sync and Freesync monitors really baffles me)

Anyways, which GPUs are currently capable of supporting ultra settings on 1440p ? (yes I'm talking about games like Batman, The Witcher...)

(please forgive me if my question is irrelevant or stupid, I don't know as much about the topic as most of you do)

980ti is the best choice at the moment. If you can get two, even better.

If you got money to blow:

AMD Fury X for Freesync

NVIDIA GTX Titan X for G-Sync

^^^^^^^^^^^Likely a stupid thing to do!^^^^^^^^^^^

If you don't have money to blow:

AMD Fury for Freesync

NVIDIA GTX 980Ti for G-Sync

Sooo... Would a GTX 970 be enough for ultra settings ?

I'm also wondering, will my i7 920 bottleneck any of those cards (I might overclock it if I absolutely have to) ?
