I'm trying to save for a GPU with the power of a 970 for 200-300$. Is there any AMD card that matches this,or is there a way to get a 970 for that price range?

Depends on where you are from.

How much does the R9 290, R9 290X, R9 390 and R9 390X cost for you?

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/sapphire-video-card-1003623l 290 is close to 970

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/sapphire-video-card-1003614l 290x is slightly faster after oc.

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvr939g1gaming8gd 390 also competes.

 

970 is still the best.

290x and 390

 

Which one of those most match the 970

JayzTwoCents said yesterday that despite being a self proclaimed member of "Team Green" he would recommend the 390 over a 970 right now considering they basically cost exactly the same. I'm sure there are/will be reviews available comparing the 2 that should give an indication of the actual performance.

Which one of those most match the 970

290X if you're only going for one card, 390 if you're going to Crossfire later on. 390 = 290 8GB.
