Right now on TigerDirect there is sale for windows 8.1 and mcafee for $66 after mail-in rebate. Are these rebates worth the hassle?

You are your own best judge for this.

I have done mail in rebates in the past and some take months to get even a $10 rebate.

If I had the choice of saving like $10 by doing a MIR or paying full price I would just pay full price.

(I am not saying this discount is only worth $10, I am just giving an example)

WTH guys!

If you install Microsoft Windows 10 Preview right now and link it to your Microsoft Account, they'll give you a full license when it comes out.

Or so I read in an article.

EDIT: NVM

You can you can keep using the beta if you continue to update your build. (This is fine for a decent copy of Windows)

+1 for this

EDIT:

I have used G2A for games, but never for Windows or really any expensive game

Also Why McAfee?

why would you get mcafee seriously...

Yes but Mcafee it the worst anti-virus out there...

It's just for windows, I'll just throw mcafee away.

It's a $60 MIR

You have to activate mccafee to actually get the rebate. It can take up to 6 months to get the rebate with tigerdirect. Mccafee must be installed and active in a computer for them to accept a rebate.

Most people simply install mccafee in an old computer they don't use.

This is incorrect. You need to have already had Windows 7/8/8.1 on your computer with a valid key. Otherwise GG NO RE.

MIR's unless they are decently larger than $50 bucks are worth to me. but anything below i dont really bother, still such a hassle to register and then wait 6-8 weeks. etc etc

imho, no.

If you want a cheap windows licence. Check G2A or Reddit r/microsoftswap

havent tried reddit, but i'd advise against G2A. they sold me a pirated copy of 8.1 and the refund process is horrid:

great for you?

regardless of how much you spend, even if it's one issue like buying a pirated license is a HUGE no-go for me. IDC what people say..

Normally yes. Rebates take like 5 mins to do and save you a lot of money. However those software rebates are kind of a hassle. I usually don't buy bundles like that.

I've used Tiger Direct and done the McAffee Rebates. Hands down worth it they do take some time, but that's part of the game. What I do is take the gift card they send me and then use it for either GAS or buy a Amazon Gift Card and add that to my account for future purchases.

I've done this last year for the deal they had on Memory with Kingstone Hyper 8GB for like 19 bucks. Ordered two sticks and filled out all the paperwork and sent it away.

If you can afford to buy something without a rebate and rather would to avoid the hassle I completely understand.

But getting a great deal on something and taking the time to fill out the rebate isn't too hard. The trick I found is when I make the order I use Chrome and Google Drive to save the rebate form and invoice (order confirmation) as a PDF.

Then when the product arrives I'll print it out and I'm good to go.

However I did cancel the auto recurring membership with McAfee and I never installed this on any system I own. I just used it for the 60 dollar credit.
