I built my first PC today and went ahead and powered it on.

First try didn't boot, nothing seemed to be getting power.

2nd try after I checked all cables I found out that the 24 pin atx power connector wasn't plugged in all the way but I still went ahead and boot it. It worked, everything OK.

Now my question is : is it safe to power the system without having the power connector all the way in? I mean it goes in 95% while putting as much force as I can and supporting the mobo so it doesn't bend but it doesn't snap in and I hear no *clicks *

Any suggestions?

sometimes either the connector, or the socket can be a bit, fresh, and might not have that snap in feel.

\Just make sure its as far in as it can go, or that the connector base is flush with the socket base. (there's no gap in between the two, or if there is, a very very small one.)

As long as it doesn't run the risk of popping out, I don't see anything going wrong. you could try taking it out and putting it back in a few times (there's a 'that's what she said' joke in there). also check that you don't have any random things in the sockets blocking it from going in all the way (hurr durr TWICE IN A SINGLE POST)

I have never been able to put in my power connectors all the way with my PSU. That goes for my motherboard and the GPU, the connectors just don't want latch on to that lip at the end.

But as long as it's in there as far as possible and there is no risk of it falling out, you should be fine

There is a big gap. It goes in until some point and then it just doesn't want to keep going!

It is not to bad, if there is not too much strain on the cable. Otherwise I could imagine, that the additonal 4 pins (most psu's use a 20+4pin layout) are getting in the way somehow. be sure to plug those in first, then the 20 bin with the snap in clip.
