Ideas to prevent spam

So, does anyone have any ideas for this?

 

I saw this on the Game Maker forum.

 

They have the top thread for spammers. Maybe this forum could use this technique?

I think the spambots are too enthusiastic about kitchens to be stopped.

We put a ban on posting for the first day of your account! then after that its normal. It helps alot it has been done on other forums.

Because no spammer in the right mind would wait when there are hundreds of other forums to spam.

Actually the average wait time before posting for most spammers are about 7-14 days to get around these features.

The jersey spammers I logged only wait 2-3 days. :P

 

PS: In the past few days I have noticed a drop in profile feed spammer. (but maybe that's just @Glenwing going trough the list before I do. :P )

Why wouldn't that work. I think the idea was shot down for some reason but can't remember or think of why?
