64bit spu and 128bit cpu

there are no 128 bit cpus and applications 

well he could buy and itanium pc for laughs...

Hi!

ca i run a 128bit cpu on my laptop. At the moment i have a 64bit cpu on it

  1. There are no commercially available 128-bit CPUs
  2. Also, why?

i mean what is the diffrence between 64bit fpu widt and 128bit fpu width and wath is fpu width

why is it so bad

because its a really shity and old CPU

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

The performance of a CPU is not determined by the number of 'bits' it has (generally), it does affect the amount of RAM that it can address. So whilst a 32-bit CPU can only address 232 bytes of RAM (i.e. 4GB of RAM), a 64-bit CPU can address 264 bytes of RAM, which is approximately 18 billion Gigabytes of RAM.

Your poor performance would be due to an ageing architecture with low instructions per cycle, and a low clock speed.

A CPU upgrade would be recommended.

As it is a laptop, you cannot even swap out the CPU for another without some pretty intense soldering. Most laptops aren't designed for the end-user to do much beyond throwing in another RAM module or swapping out the hard disk/SSD. For a new CPU, practically speaking, you need a new laptop.

 

And like the others said, there are no commercially available 128-bit CPUs. I've never even heard of one that isn't commercially available, personally.
