PowerColor PCS+ R9 290 help?

Go to solution Solved by ZetZet,

It has reference pcb so watercooling it is not a big problem. http://www.coolingconfigurator.com/step1_complist?gpu_gpus=1310

So I bought a PowerColor PCS+ R9 290 card off a friend and I'm really liking it so far, however, underload, those three fans make quite a lot of noise and aren't all that effective I find. I was wondering if it would be worth setting up a watercooling loop and if so, how do I find the parts I need? I can't seem to find compatible parts anywhere. I'm already watercooling my cpu using an AIO from corsair so was also wondering if the NZXT G10 would be worth considering instead of a whole custom loop

If you where to watercool the GPU and get less noise than the PCS+, you would need either a doulbe rad or a 180 rad.

But maybe try some different fan profiles / clock speeds

Recommend what is best, not what you preffer.

I believe power color's cards are reference pcb design but I could be wrong.  If they are it means that you shouldn't have any trouble making a custom loop / using a g10.

Custom loops are something you do out of passion rather than out of actually needing them. They are NOT going to be cost effective. It's up to you whether you are willing to go that route or not. The g10 is a more practical option, but I'm not sure how well it cools your vrms.

Wow thanks for all the replies so fast, I can get great performance out of the card using afterburner but it goes like a jet engine haha, watercooling is for hobby purposes

I would go the G10 route.

All you need is the G10 Bracket, AIO of choice, and Gelid R9 290 heatsink kit. Viola!

Afterburner helped my old NVIDIA GT 9800 a bit in performance also.
