HDD: Seagate or WD?

Which one to buy? Will be used as a main drive mainly for gaming, movies and music.
P.S not buying from newegg, just using as examples

if they cost the same, id go with WD, but usually seagate is 15-20$ cheaper depending on the drive, so if it is at least 15$ cheaper, go seagate

i have always used western digital. I have never had one of their drives die on me.

I would go for Western Digital, I have Caviar Blue 1tb in my current build and have had no issues at all. Although I don't know anyone who has had issues with seagate, so I guess its really up to you.

I use that WD drive, yeaah it's not good for a main-boot drive, but ok for storage. I had one dead on arrival but i got it changed pretty fast and the second one is mediocre.

Seagate and WD, probably no real difference.  However, I still prefer WD.  Its just a habbit, so don't take it as advice its just my experience.

Just saying, there's more than just those two. It's always worth looking at other brands.

 

Some of Hitachi's drives are pretty cheap in the US ATM and those things are built to last.

Get whatever offers the best $/GB for the class of drive you want to buy.

 

They have the same warranty, storage capacity, and no special features. The WD one costs $2 less, so get that one.

Hey xMishax,

 

Gaming relies on the storage's performance only for the loading times and FPS and graphics stay unaffected. The other usage that you are planning also benefits little from faster drives so it wouldn't really matter which drive you'll pick in terms of performance.
