I have an ASUS X54H laptop and I try to play some older gamecubes games on it like metroid prime. The only problem is that my laptop can't handle the games very well. Even when set to the lowest graphical settings my laptop often struggles and produces a low framerate. Is there a better app to use? Some sort of GameCube to PC conversion app? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Dolphin is your only hope for a GameCube emulator.

Dolphin is the best emulator for gamecube out there, your laptop however is a ultrabook and you only have an APU so ofc it's going to lag and stutter. Emulation is very taxing on your hardware, and if you don't have good hardware you can forget about emulating anything besides gameboy and maybe ps1.

Hey, my laptop can run metroid prime at 50 to 60 fps at low settings when not in combat.

So this only happens in combat? What are your settings? Have you enabled any hacks? And why does the OP state it lags often if it actually runs well outside of combat?

Dolphin is the best out there, the problem is it requires a pretty decent desktop CPU to run well.  I beleive their website recommends at least an Intel i5 to run at proper settings.

GBA and Nintendo DS work good too

That should be fine, right? Otherwise, you can always lock/cap it to 30fps

from what ive seen with emulators running at lower FPS isnt the same as PC...it starts to play in slow motion...that being said the only emulator I cant keep at 60 is the ps2 one and thats what it does.

you could always build a cheap machine with a g3258 and OC the hell out of it , pair that with a 750ti and you are in business.

yeah, often they have a target fps (eg 60fps) and if you half that fps it just goes to slowmo, but if you wanted to speed up the game, you would have to increase the fps.

My settings sit as low as possible in all games. Yes only it combat or when surrounded by other AIs. No hacks and I stated that it lags because the fps drops to about 30 or lower during these moments.

It could still help if you give me screenshots of your settings. There might be specific settings you need to alter for your combat issue.
