i5 430M

Go to solution Solved by ProKoN,

Yea only renders one square at a time.

in the bios go to power managment tab

core multi processing

is it enabled?

My very old laptop has the intel i5 M 430. I was just curious to how bad the chip was, so i started looking around( ark.intel...) and found that on their database it's meant to have 2 cores and 4 threads. However the one i have in my laptop only has 1 core and 1 thread.

I looked through my BIOS to see if I could enable the second core but found nothing.
Can anyone tell me why that would be?

Intel Database: http://ark.intel.com/products/43537/Intel-Core-i5-430M-Processor-3M-Cache-2_26-GHz

probably a broken chip or something, if the chip is broken its a miracle that it even works, could also be a softwere error or your looking at the wrong specs sheet

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Tried ubuntu still only 1 core and 1 thread.

Went into msconfig, the "number of processor" was already unchecked, when I checked it, I only saw the option for 1 cpu.

if you check it can you select 4?

sounds like a bios issue if windows doesnt recognize 4 threads and ubuntu yields the same results

try to load optimized defaults or update \ downgrade bios

Yea the only option I see is for 1 cpu.

According to my manufacture I have the latest BIOS version.

Unfortunately because this laptop soooo old I can't find any older version for its BIOS.

you could try and flash it again
