Manual Backup with the free version of Macrium Reflect (the actual free version, not the stupid free trial version). It works great, has a good compression on the images, and made updating my dad's laptop HDD to and SSD super easy. For free software, it lacks nothing I need.

scheduled and manual cmd copy paste of certain drives/folders I specify.

I don't trust backup software (had issues in the past). I don't make a backup of my windows install. If something messes up, it's likely time for a fresh install anyways.

Ironically I've lost more data from data redundancy measures than I have from drive failure.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I never have anything to back up and whenever I do its normally small enough to fit on a usb (like 3gb or something) never have anything important on my HDD but would make a NAS if I came across a cheap pc.

I wish I could use a backup software... I have a hdd I back up to, but it has linux mint (I duel boot) so no programs recognize it, so now I just tend to make huge compressed files that I put on that drive as a backup.

I have a NAS running FreeNAS with Raid-Z (ZFS). All my windows computers do image backups to the NAS.
