ARMA III ultra low FPS

Go to solution Solved by BrandedUpontheGrave,

Arma hates the FX series CPUs lower performance per core ratio, works better on less faster cores.

So far I haven't met a game that constantly gives me such low FPS, around 20-25.. I mean yeah my PC isn't the best, but... really? Is it THAT bad?

CPU: AMD FX6300 @ 4,02GHz

MoBo: ASUS M5A97 R2.0

RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz

GPU: Gigabyte Radeon HD 7970

running the game from SSD Samsung 850 Pro

do I need a Titan Z in 3-SLI with i7 4790K to be able to run it at 60 FPS at least? thanks

AMD CPU in Arma.

Arma uses 1 core, and is graphically intensive.

Do not  as I  do, and  not  as I say. Instead do as you may..

It's def your cpu. I have 7970 also. While the game isn't optimized very well you should be seeing a lot more fps. But yah you will need titan's to run it at 60 fps.lol

You couldn't have 3 way sli with Titan Zs, one card = 2 Titans two cards = 4 Titans. (the nature of dual GPU cards.)

I read up to FX6300 when I fell out of my chair from laughing so hard. ARMA III on an AMD CPU? Yeah, no...

Anything above the FX4xxx Series is not value for money. Plus, even an FX8950 won't be able to handle ARMA III.

DayZ Standalone does a similar thing to me. It's most likely because AMD CPU's do really bad in single threaded applications (these can be games) and ARMA is a very intensive game on your hardware. Also it might be your GPU, but on the lowest settings it's playable with most 2GB and up GPUs that are relatively new. And 7000 series isn't all that different from the 300(X) series.

AMD CPUs are bad because they are "slow" despite their fast clock speed. They complete many less calculations per clock, so they are basically slow. While ramping up the speed does help, you won't get it high enough to match a good Intel CPU.

great, and since my MoBo is AMD only I can't even buy a new CPU, I have to buy a whole new PC, but that will be later.. oh well, thanks for the tips, at least now I know what to focus on my next PC, even my friends laugh at AMD CPU when I told them that I have one.. crap.. any ideas if I will be at least able to run the new NFS that's coming Nov 3? and then the Doom next Q1/2? Because I'm not sure when I'm able to buy a new PC, thanks
