GT 730, R7 240, or something else?

Hey guys,

 

Just need a little help finalizing something... I'm looking at this list here... and I'm undecided between a GT 730 or an R7 240 (or maybe something else entirely)...

 

Max budget is 3000PhP for this component...

 

It will be used in a general purpose machine (G3258) that has to be able to handle some light photo and video editing (don't care about CUDA or OpenCL)...

 

MadVR will also be installed on the machine...

I would get the GT 740 out of all of those, its a bit better then the 730 and the 240.

Edit: nvm saw the price

The 240 would be best bet for color replication, other wise the 730 will be fine.

why cant you use the g325's onboard chip and then use a discrete gpu when you have the money? I'd wait till you have the money for a r7 250

 

its just preference which one you wanna get

Not planning on using this for anything heavier than the stated purposes...

 

Also, money is hard to come by... so the budget of 3000PhP for a GPU is absolute...

 

The next upgrade for this machine is in 3 years... and that's for a second stick of RAM...

I'll also be installing The Sims 3 on this machine... 720p Medium is the intended setting... you think the G3258's iGPU can handle that???

These cards are so weak I say buy a APU!... But if you want a GPU then 260, 360 or a 750Ti.

hmm... lemme check the prices:

 

A8 5600k (4200 PhP) + AsRock FM2A55-VG3+ (2060 PhP) = 6260PhP... sounds reasonable... but then I'll have to fork an extra 1050 PhP for cooling (the stock solution is absolute rubbish)...

 

Edit:

 

Might get the APU in the end.. same base system as my current setup (less the 260X) so I can test the parts as I obtain them...

 

Will also test if the AsRock mobo can maintain the 4.2GHz overclock for extended periods...

A10-7870 is the best but a dedicated GPU still is the better. :)

Meh... I could get a used 650Ti in a few years for cheaps (but this build can't wait for that)... If the core architecture is the same (or close enough in performance), then I can just squeeze some extra performance via overclocking...
