New to Intel

I returned an AMD 8350 back to amazon to buy instead an intel chip. Question is which motherboard would i buy. The main use this computer will have is gaming. I'm browsing through options and there all this different types of motherboards...... I plan on overclocking gradually the cpu. I will not do sli/crossfire and it will be on a mid tower case. I will more than likely upgrade in 2 years again the new intel chips.. I just want 1080p gaming. Any help???

Asus Z97-A, MSI Z97 Gaming 5, or ASRock Z97 Extreme3. Those are some good budget Z97 board.

I know the MSI Gaming 5 motherboard is pretty good, but are you alright with the color?

Is there any color scheme you are looking for? And you said you have a mid tower case, but is it still ATX?

CPU - i5 4690K

If you are going to upgrade in 2 years for the new intel chips i would just recommend a cheap z97 board that has enough heatsinks on the vrms. Good Luck :)

Get what looks pretty, the Asus z97 boards are decent, and have exceptional bios level fan control.

 

Just don't install Asus UI suite.

Not really... I would just adapt to the mother board color and build from there. as long as its not pink.. lol jk

if youre from the uk get the z87-g55 from amazon, its only £60 and can do sli. i have it paired with my i7 4790.

 

its usually in the £80 range.

It really depends on your price point and if you prefer any colors.
